[Commlist] ESRC Festival of Social Science Event: Navigating the (mis)information ecosystem

We would like to draw your attention to an event that is taking place at 
the University of Liverpool on 24th October 2024 as part of the ESRC 
Festival of Social Science: *Navigating the (mis)information ecosystem*.
The networked society has profoundly reshaped the information ecosystem, 
empowering citizens to both produce and consume news while also 
accelerating the spread of misinformation in an increasingly polarized 
environment. The rise of Generative AI and multimodal platforms (such as 
Instagram and TikTok) has further compounded this challenge, making 
information verification both crucial and complex. Against this 
backdrop, research at the Digital Media and Society Institute has 
concentrated on developing frameworks and technological tools to 
effectively navigate the misinformation landscape, helping both citizens 
and communication gatekeepers become more resilient. By attending this 
event, you will participate in discussions about the research findings, 
offering feedback on their societal and practical significance to 
support knowledge transfer and the co-design of digital tools.
