Siena has an open postdoc position (Grant research)
We are seeking to recruit a postdoctoral fellow for the project The
Informational Character of Online Incivility among Traditional Media,
Social Media and Fringe Platforms.
This project is part of the national programme Countering Online
Radicalization and Incivility in Italy: From Fringe to Mainstream, led
by Professor Giovanni Boccia Artieri (University of Urbino) and funded
by the EU through the National Research Program (NRP) and as a Research
Project of Significant National Interest (PRIN) in line with the
objectives of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRP), part of
the Next Generation EU programme.
The successful candidate will collaborate with the Siena CoPI and the
Urbino PI to achieve common goals. In particular, uncivil practices
developing in the sphere of fringe platforms and social media will be
investigated and a glossary on prejudice constructed. Furthermore , the
dynamics of “intermedia agenda ” that develop between traditional media,
social media and marginal platforms will be examined, and the news
agenda and its interpretive framework within different communicative
environments compared.
The total grant amount is 24,320 euros (gross).
The successful candidate will be enrolled as a postdoctoral fellow at
the University of Siena for one year. The preferred start date is
September 10, 2024.
Familiarity with digital media research is preferred.
