EXTENDED DEADLINE (May 9) - Postdoctoral research fellowship on AI
Ageism @University of L'Aquila
The deadline for the call for a postdoctoral research fellow position,
at the Department of Human Sciences, University of L'Aquila (Italy), has
been extended to May 9, 2024.
The research (AIA) aims to explore the phenomenon of AI Ageism as a
socio-technical issue, that is, to unveil the age-based biases operating
in the AI field (at both the technical and the user level) that
discriminate or neglect older people.
We are looking for a candidate who has research interests and experience
related to AIA's topics (socio-digital inequalities; digital ageism;
aging & communication) and proven methodological skills (proficiency
with softwares such as SPSS and NVivo would be an additional asset).
The fellow is expected to carry out one or more of the research
activities included in the project, under the supervision of Dr.
Francesca Belotti and her research team.
The work can also be done remotely, except for occasional face-to-face
meetings if needed.
Eligibility Requirements: PhD in Communication and Media Studies, Social
Sciences and Research (and related fields), and/or PhD in Computer
Science, Software Engineering, Data Science (and related fields).
Selection will be based on the evaluation of qualifications first, and
then of the interview of those who are admitted to it.

The 1-year grant is expected to start on June 1, 2024.
The annual amount is €23,890.08 gross.
The grant is exempt from local income tax and personal income tax.
Social security contributions will be paid directly by the University of
L’Aquila, after the fellow's enrollment in the Separate Management Fund
(“Gestione separata”) of the Italian National Social Security Institute
(“INPS”).
