"Call for Abstracts: 1st International Symposium on Women in Audio 
Visual Culture”

We are very excited to annouce 1st International Symposium on Women in 
Audio Visual Culture which will be organized by Istanbul Okan University 
in collaboration with Cinema Television Department and Public Relations 
and Advertising Department held on May 23-25, 2024!

1st International Symposium on Women in Audio Visual Culture which aims 
to create a platform that will enrich critical views on the sexist side 
of our audiovisual world with the questions, research, thoughts and 
experiences of the participants under the topics is being organized as 
an open call for academics and researchers.

First two days of the symposium will be held in İstanbul Okan University 
Tuzla Campus, last day Salt which is a cultural institution that 
develops innovative programs to create a free platform for encounters, 
research, and expression for its users and visitors will host the 
participants. In addition to the accepted papers, panels and workshops 
are planned throughout the symposium.  Presenters will have opportunity 
to participate online.

Symposium Themes and Topics:

-Women in production of audiovisual culture production (theatre, cinema 
and music fields)

-Women in management of audiovisual culture

-The place and positioning of women in audiovisual contents

-Women trying to find their voice, women producing content in popular 
culture and phenomena (podcasts, YouTube, Tik Tok, Instagram, etc.)

-Women in activist culture: how do women take part in activist activities?—

-What do activist women do about gender inequality?

-How are women perceived by the masses in activities?

-Archiving, disseminating and presenting of women's heritage on 
audiovisual culture

Important Dates:

- Abstract Submission Deadline: 22 March 2024

- Notice of Acceptance/Rejection: 2 May 2024

- Release of the Program: 13 May 2024


Publication Opportunities:

-The abstracts of the accepted papers will be published online in the 
"Congress Abstracts E-Book".

-There is no requirement for full-text submission to make a presentation 
at the symposium.

-Papers submitted in full text will be converted into a book to be 
prepared within the scope of the symposium.


Paper Submission and Participation:

-Presentations can be made in Turkish and English.

-Presentations should be prepared in 15 minutes.

-Participants will not pay the congress fee for accepted papers.

-International Symposium Women follows a rigorous review process to 
ensure the quality and originality of the research presented. All 
submitted abstracts or full-text papers undergo a comprehensive 
evaluation by the Scientific Committee.

-E-certificates will be given to the researchers for the papers 
presented. Participation certificates will not be given to researchers 
for non-presented papers.

-There is no charge for those who will participate as a listener.Those 
who will attend as a listener must register.
