*ABSTRACT: *

In the past decades, theories of postcolonialism, decolonisation and 
de-Westernisation have successfully challenged Western hegemonical 
systems of knowledge production. Reviewing their literatures in relation 
to media research exposes noticeable opportunities for advancing the 
discourse of decolonisation to particularly support well-meant 
transnational solidarities in research. This can, for instance, help 
dismantle structures which Smith (2021) Chilisa (2020, 2022), and 
Mofe-Damijo (2023) maintain, perpetuate dominant Western ways of knowing 
the so-called “Global South” which marginalise indigenous knowledge 
systems and research methodologies.

Thus, with focus on Africa, this two-day seminar approaches from two 
themes: "Africa's journey of decolonisation" and "What is in a name?". 
The purpose of this event is to explore some ontologies and 
interpretations of decolonisation from Postcolonialism, 
Intersectionality, and Africa-diaspora media engagements.
