CfP: From technology adoption to societal outcomes: Developing measures of the digital transformation

17-21 June 2024, Florence, Italy

The Robert Schuman Centre at The European University Institute in Florence is culminating the celebration of its 30th anniversary through joint sessions of workshops on six themes that are central to the Centre’s research agenda. These joint sessions bring together scholars from different institutions, schools of thought, methodological preferences, career stages, and locations for four days of intense collaboration. The goal is to collectively address significant issues, with an eye on publishing the findings collaboratively.

One of the six workshop themes is:
From technology adoption to societal outcomes: Developing measures of the digital transformation

The workshop aims at advancing academic thinking on a broader view of the measurement of the digital society and democracy, including issues such as disinformation and news environment: - What are the main existing sources of information and how are they used to measure relevant aspects of the digital transformation? - What are the main current gaps in the measurement of the digital transformation? - What can we learn from existing attempts at measuring the digital transformation and their limitations?

Abstract submission deadline: 31 January 2024
