Helen Hanson is happy to share *2 job opportunities for postdoctoral
researchers* on the AHRC-Funded ‘Women’s Screen Work in the Archives’
Project (2024-2028) to assist the work of the project team – Helen
Hanson (Project Lead, Uni of Exeter), Co-Leads: Shelley Cobb (Uni of
Southampton), Wendy Russell (British Film Institute Special
Collections), Lisa Smithstead (Swansea Uni) Phil Wickham (Bill Douglas
Cinema Museum, Uni of Exeter) Linda Ruth Williams (Uni of Exeter).
The roles are full-time and fixed-term for 3 years. More details about

1. *Postdoctoral Research Associate – Archives*
The appointee will work primarily with the Project Lead (Helen Hanson)
and BFI Project Co-Lead (Wendy Russell) in the BFI National Archive
(Conservation Centre, Berkhamsted). They will become familiar with
archival practice at the BFI and will have the opportunity to apply this
to agreed collections. They will innovate and test feminist approaches
to archiving and will contribute to cataloguing collections of selected
women filmmakers (such as Tina Gharavi, and Gurinder Chadha). They will
also disseminate the research findings by engaging a range of audiences:
the archival community, academics and wider publics.

2. *Postdoctoral Research Associate – Curation*
The appointee will work primarily with the Project Lead (Professor Helen
Hanson), Exeter Co-Lead (Professor Linda Williams) and Curatorial
Advisor (Dr Phil Wickham) in the Bill Douglas Cinema Museum. They will
become familiar with some of the BDCM collections. They will innovate
and test feminist approaches to the curation and presentation of
collections of women filmmakers, both in the creation of an exhibition
at the BDCM, and in digital formats (such as video essay, SWAY,
storymapping and podcasting). They will also disseminate research
findings by engaging a range of audiences: the curatorial community,
academics and wider publics.
