This one of a very best-known jazz standards, and rightbefore Neil
Armstrong stepped on the moon in 1969, songs, thecinema, and an entire
cultural imaginary surrounding the idea of expanding terrestrial
boundaries toward the unknown lunar environment foreshadowed the event
with generous doses of imagination...A rich millenarian symbolism has
been created about the moon.In a broad senseit seems a persistent idea
of "instability", but also renewal and change. The moon brings also the
shine amid the darkness of the night. In some places, it is only light
source. Phases and faces of the moon also incorporate a paradoxal
stance: frightening feelings and as well propitiates the romance ambient
for beings in love. As a matter fact, popular song books have privileged
the moon in its ranks.
We evoke the moon as our starting point for the 20th International Music
and Media Meeting. The moon sends light like calling to life many
thoughts, metaphorically. Due its symbolic power force. And what about
the lunatics? That is an adjective that refers to unstable people, in
their mood or attitudes, not infrequently pathological. But lunatic also
extends a beam of enlightenment on the idea of idealist, utopic.
In 2005, the MusiMid Meetings began as by an accident. Now, twenty years
on, it’s time to reassess some important changes that have occurred. From
cyberculture to the network culture, the establishment of media
platforms; from the so-called independent productions to the creation
and outsourcing of technical works through artificial intelligence, the
engagement of idealistic, "lunatic" people was essential at the same
time responsible to elaborate strategic actions that moves on his art in
order to face this new scenario. They are outsiders; outside of the
mainstream constituted by fads, enemies also of the intelligentsia...
In order to discuss these themes and their developments, MusiMid invited
experts in the interdisciplinary fields of music, both in the academic,
artistic and professional fields of the market. The event will be held
in person at the premises of the /Clube do Choro de Santos/. Nothing
more enjoyable than return to the place where it all began, especially
in this year when the Choro has been declared as Intangible Cultural
Heritage of Brazil.
The 20th International Music and Media Meeting invites interested you to
participate in the activities. Further information and entries on the
