We are seeking chapter proposals for an interdisciplinary anthology themed around Mothers, Mothering, Horror and Terror in Television, Film, and Literature. When we use the term mothers, we are referring to anyone who self-identifies as a mother and/or engages in mother work. The anthology will consider and explore the ways in which mothers, motherhood, mothering, and mother figures are identified, constructed, represented, appropriated, interpreted, and/or (dis)embodied in horror and/or terror in film, television, and literature.

Disciplines might include psychology, sociology, communication, anthropology, women’s and gender studies, queer studies, cultural studies, literary studies, popular culture studies, and all social science and humanities. Creative contributions highlighting themes of mother(hood)s in horror and/or terror, such as fiction, poetry and art, will also be welcomed alongside academic writings. Non-fiction, creative, and academic contributions from those with lived experiences of being an Indigenous and/or racialized, LGBTQIA2S+, refugee, criminalized, and/or immigrant mother are highly encouraged to partake and share their unique perspectives.
