[Commlist] SACOMM 2024 Conference Call for Papers: The Politics of the Present

The Department of Journalism at Stellenbosch University is pleased to be 
co-hosting this year's South African Communications Association (SACOMM) 
conference. Scheduled to take place from 10-12 September 2024, the 
conference's theme, "The Politics of the Present", reflects on the role 
of place, positionality and the local in communications research both in 
South Africa and globally while also taking note of how the present has 
been shaped by various histories which serve as a springboard to 
multiple possible futures, both optimistic and pessimistic.


In line with the theme, the conference invites submissions that 
critically consider the current positionality and politics of media 
texts, institutions, practices, and technologies that provoke and shape 
communications research. Abstract submissions are now open and close on 
15 April 2024.  Submissions should include a title, a 250-word abstract 
and a 50-word speaker/author biography. To view the full call, please
