City, University of London is continuing a strategic expansion of its Media and Communications offerings and seeks to appoint a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in MEDIA AND MARKETING ANALYTICS.

The new *Department of Media, Culture and Creative Industries* draws together academic staff specialising in Advertising, Creative Writing, Culture and Creative Industries, English, Media Management, Media and Communications, Media Production, Publishing, PR and Strategic Communications.The department is committed to maintaining the high quality of our teaching. The successful applicant will have a good first degree (and, if applying for the research and education profile, a PhD, ideally in Media, Communication, Data Analytics, Marketing, Statistics or a related field) and expertise related to Media and Marketing Analytics. The role is focussed on professional analytical skills related to understanding media audiences and marketing data. Your specific focus and expertise may include (but is not limited to): audience and consumer research, social media analytics, web marketing and analytics, social network analysis, web scraping and data mining, digital marketing data mining, sentiment analysis, user surveys and target audience analysis in digital media, social listening, data visualisation and/or other analytic methods and tools.

You will have expertise in quantitative methods and be able to teach students (without a background in quantitative methods) data literacy in a way that is accessible and helps them understand how data insights can improve their media and communication practices.

Candidates should be able to teach and design modules across the subject in a way that is industry-focusedand socially relevant. You should have the knowledge and ability to teach students across our programmes how to collect, interpret and implement user and marketing data in the Media and Communication Industries.

In particular, they should have research-based knowledge and the ability to teach in most or all of the following areas:

    Strategic communication
    Public relations
    Marketing communication
Other core areas of our departmental curricula, such as modules in advertising, marketing, media and communication audiences, media management

Candidates should be able to teach and design modules across Media Production in a way that is industry-focussed and socially relevant. In particular, you should have the ability to teach most if not all of the following modules on our BA Media Production, MA Media and Communications and other related programmes:

    Digital Content Creation (UG, Y1)
    Intermediate Editing (UG, Y2)
    Promotional Content Creation (UG, Y3)
    Audiovisual Media Production (MA)
    Digital Content Creation (for PR and Marketing) (MA)



You should have deep expertise in video production and the ability to use and teach postproduction software (e.g. Adobe Premiere Pro; Adobe Photoshop).



You will have a professional background in the media industries and the ability to share insights from that background in a way that is supportive of students’ employability.
