_PRIZES_
Firstly, we would like to announce the winners of two prizes awarded 
this year by the journal:

Since 2010, the *Susan Hayward Prize *(named after the founder of the 
journal) has been awarded annually by the College of General Editors for 
the best article published in the journal in the previous year by an 
author who was registered as a doctoral candidate at the time of 
submission. The Prize consists of a cash award (£200 since 2021). We 
congratulate *Eli Boonin-Vail*(University of Pittsburgh, USA) on winning 
the 2022-3 prize for his article ‘The system of the genius: the French 
New Wave’s /politique des producteurs/’, published in volume 23, nº

The *MA Prize *was reintroduced under new journal editorship in 2022 for 
the best essay written as part of a Master’s degree. The winner is 
offered the chance to submit their paper for peer reviewed publication. 
 We congratulate the last two years' winners:

  * 2023, *Oliver Wilson *(Cambridge, UK), ‘A Waste of Space: Queer
    Relationalities and Abject Materialities in Claire Denis’s /High
    Life/and Julia Ducournau’s /Titane/’.
  * 2022, *Hanne Schelstraete*(University of Antwerp, Belgium), ‘Martyr

_SMALL RESEARCH AND TRAVEL BURSARIES_
Secondly, a reminder of an upcoming deadline (on 1December) for applying 
for one of our bursaries:

As a journal dedicated to disseminating research in the field of French 
and Francophone cinema and audio-visual media, /French Screen Studies 
/offers small bursaries to help postgraduate students and early career 
researchers who wish to pursue research in the field, in terms of travel 
to archives or conferences, although other costs related to research may 
be considered, such as registration fees, translation or help with 
acquiring illustrations for academic publications.

*Eligibility *

Applications will be accepted from postgraduate students and ECRs 
(within 5 years of receiving their PhD) attached to UK and Ireland 
higher education institutions.

*Level of grant and eligible costs *

Grants will normally range from £200 to £500 within available resources. 
The main criterion for an award will be the perceived academic value of 
the research for which funding is sought. Applicants will be expected to 
have planned their project well in advance and normally to have obtained 
primary funding from their university institution or other sources, 
which must be stated on the application.

*Deadlines
*There are two deadlines for applications to this funding: *1 June *and 
*1****December*. Decisions are made within one month of the deadline.

*Application procedure *

There is no application form. Please send an email to the Chief General 
Editors of the journal, Dr Mary Harrod ((M.G.M.Harrod /at/ warwick.ac.uk) 
<mailto:(M.G.M.Harrod /at/ warwick.ac.uk)>) and Prof Ginette Vincendeau 
((ginette.vincendeau /at/ kcl.ac.uk)), indicating the following:

 1.
 2. Name and institutional affiliation
 3. A brief statement of career and/or short abstract or summary of PhD
    project (maximum 250 words)
 4. Details of the project to be undertaken for which support is sought
    (maximum 250 words)
 5. Anticipated publication outputs and other outcomes
 6. A draft budget, clearly detailing the amount requested, and the
    purpose to which it will be put
 7. Details, where relevant, of current or recent funding relating to
    the research in question and/or other financial support for which
    the applicant has applied/will apply in support of the project
 8. An undertaking to abide by the conditions of the award, if successful
 9. For postgraduate students, a letter of support from their supervisor.

*Conditions of the award *

Reimbursement will be made upon presentation of scanned receipts.

Successful applicants must acknowledge the financial support of /French 
Screen Studies /in any event participation or resulting publications 
that benefitted from the award.
