[Commlist] IV Colloquium Tourism, film and Territory

Tue Jun 13 21:47:31 GMT 2023

*IV Colloquium Tourism, Film and Territory*
November 6 to 8, 2023

The proposal of this fourth Colloquium is to carry out an in-depth discussion on the way in which film productions create and propagate images and imaginaries of the places where fiction is staged, which generally has a notorious impact on the arrival of tourists to these localities, attracted by the geographical landscape (which includes traditions, (gastronomy, culture and/or local population) previously displayed on screen. This movement caused by tourism has repercussions on the territorial dynamics of the mediatized sites because it modifies the economic structure, social
Organization and even local identity within these territories.
The general objective of this academic meeting will be to analyze, discuss
and propose new approaches to study the impact of film productions on the territorial dynamics of places where audiovisual productions have been shooted –or that have been represented in a film– also considering the perspective of local subjects in relation to the imaginary generated by cinema and the transformations induced by
tourism in their locality.
The event will be held onsite in Taxco, Guerrero. México and online via Zoom
