The shape and content of the Online Safety Bill (OSB) has generated 
discussion amongst policy specialists, stakeholders and lobbyists in key 
services and sectors, political advisors and appointed representatives, 
and academics and researchers – as well as a general public interested 
in what the OSB will mean for people made vulnerable or at risk of harms 
online.

As the OSB reaches the final stages of approval through the UK 
government, this event will provide a response, highlighting the voices 
and perspectives of those invested in ensuring a vibrant, equal, 
inclusive, and safe digital society can flourish. Speakers will include 
those whose work has had an impact on the OSB, either through policy 
work or government roles, and academics whose research has significantly 
shaped the nature of the discussion.

The event will also see the launch of the report ‘Postdigital Intimacies 
for Online Safety’, a collaborative and co-produced commentary on the 
OSB and future directions. Contributions to the report are included 
from: BAM Construction, Big Health, Bumble, Carnegie UK Trust, ChilyPep, 
Men’s Health Forum, Men’s Craft, National Autistic Society, ORCHA, 
Revenge Porn Helpline, Samaritans, Suzy Lamplugh Trust, SWGfL, and TechUK.

Professor Jessica Ringrose (University College London) and Dr Debbie 
Ging (Dublin City University), sharing the outcomes and insights of 
multiple studies and reports on the topics of young people, gender and 
sexual violence and educational interventions including:  ‘Understanding 
and combatting youth experiences of image-based sexual harassment and 
abuse’ ; ‘The State of UK Boys: Understanding and Transforming Gender in 
the Lives of UK Boys’; and ‘Young People’s Experiences of Sexual and 
Gender-based Harassment and Abuse During the Covid-19 Pandemic in Ireland’.
