[Commlist] Vacancy: Assistant/Associate Professor, Journalism and AI

The Harrington School of Communication and Media at the University of 
Rhode Island invites applicants for a tenure-line faculty position at 
the rank of assistant/associate professor of journalism program to begin 
Fall 2023. *We strongly encourage applications from female and minority 
candidates.**

We seek candidates whose teaching and research interests focus on one or 
more of the following: computational journalism, Artificial Intelligence 
(AI) or big data analytics and their application to journalism and 
communication. Responsibilities include conducting research, teaching 
existing courses, and developing new courses in the candidate’s area(s) 
of expertise. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the 
ability to develop a sustained research agenda, provide evidence of 
successful teaching and advising, and demonstrate the ability to work 
effectively with students, faculty, staff and administrators.

The candidate will enhance research and scholarship in the areas 
relevant to the study of contemporary journalism and AI. The candidate 
will ideally forge collaborations with departments like Computer 
Science, College of Business, and other areas of their specialization to 
promote a center of excellence at URI in the broad area of AI and 
journalism.
