/Communication Studies Locally and Globally /—/seminar on-line and 
on-site 13^th May/

You are warmly welcome to participate in the seminar /Communication 
Studies Locally and Globally/ remotely or on-site. The seminar is 
organised to honour Professor Emeritus *Kaarle Nordenstreng *who 
celebrated his 80th birthday in the summer of 2021. The seminar examines 
the place of Finnish communication studies relative to international 
research and discusses the future of the field.

The keynote speech titled /A future for critical communication studies: 
Moving away from (social) media-centrisms and new technological 
determinism /is given by Professor *Nico Carpentier*, President of 
IAMCR.The view to communication studies is further augmented by the 
video greetings of 10 international scholars: *Ulla Carlsson, Cees 
Hamelink, Epp Lauk*, *Claudia Padovani*, *Ayud Rioba*, *Muniz Sodré*, 
*Daya Thussu*,*Elena Vartanova*, *Zhao Yuechi* and *Janet Wasko. 
*Onsite, greetings are**presented by*Taisto Hujanen * and*Anna 
Rantasila*.**The seminar is chaired*by Laura Ahva. *

The event is open to all without registration //Tampere University Pinni 
B lecture hall B1100. The seminar is also broadcast online so please
