[Commlist] New Book - Looking for Alicia: The Unfinished Life of an Argentinian Rebel

Alicia Raboy was one of 228 Argentinian journalists murdered or 
“disappeared” during the military dictatorship of 1976-1983. She was 
also a contemporary as well as a distant cousin of the author, long-time 
IAMCR member and media scholar Marc Raboy.

In this unique book Raboy pieces together Alicia’s story, exploring the 
parallels and diverging circumstances of his and Alicia’s lives – the 
one brutally cut short, the other ongoing. The author and his subject 
share more than a surname and a distant ancestral connection, as 
children of Jewish immigrants from Ukraine; both were marked by youthful 
rebellion, journalistic ambition, and the radical politics that were a 
hallmark of the ’60s and ’70s.
