The International Conference on Communication and Applied Technologies 
2022 (ICOMTA, 2022), will be hosted by the Universidad Politécnica 
Salesiana (Ecuador), on the 7th – 9th September 2022.

Themes and scope
========
ICOMTA’22 – The 2022 International Conference on Communication and 
Applied Technologies has as organizing entity the Universidad del 
Rosario (Bogota, Colombia) and Universidad Politécnica Salesiana 
(Cuenca, Ecuador); and as collaborators at the Universidade de Vigo 
(Galicia, Spain), Universidade de Santiago de Compostela- Equipo de 
Investigaciones Políticas (Galicia, Spain), the International Research 
Network of Communication Management (XESCOM) and the Red de 
Investigadores en Comunicación de Ecuador (RICE) and to the member 
universities of the Observatorio Interuniversitario de Medios 
Ecuatorianos (OIME): Universidad San Francisco de Quito, Universidad 
Técnica Particular de Loja (UTPL), UTE University and Universidad 
Técnica del Cotopaxi. Topics that are especially encouraged for 
ICOMTA’22 are:
- Digital communication and processes.
- Software, big data, data mining and intelligent systems.
- Communication, Health, Politics and Technologies. The other pandemic: 
misinformation in times of coronavirus. Automation, bots and algorithms.
- Fact-checking experiences in Europe and Latin America at the service 
of journalism: comparative perspective.
- Persuasion and emotion: analysis of language, content and artificial 
intelligence.
- Freedom of expression, ethics and transparency in the digital society.
- Digital social networks.
- Innovation, university teaching and technology.
- Miscellaneous (journalism, communication, advertising and public 
relations, political science and other aspects of Social and Human 
Sciences from information and communication technologies).
Accepted papers will be published, in English, in Springer (indexed by 
Scopus), and in Spanish in Tirant Lo Blanch (the first Spanish 
publishing house according to the Scholar Publisher Indicators -SPI-).
