[Commlist] cfp: Towards a Terrestrial Internet: Rethinking Digital Networks From the Ground Up
Mon Mar 28 15:59:03 GMT 2022
We are inviting submission of abstracts to the ESOCITE/4S 2022
conference open panel ‘144. Towards a Terrestrial Internet: Rethinking
Digital Networks From the Ground Up’. You can get more details on
https://www.4sonline.org/144-towards-a-terrestrial-internet-rethinking-digital-networks-from-the-ground-up/
<https://www.4sonline.org/144-towards-a-terrestrial-internet-rethinking-digital-networks-from-the-ground-up/>
In brief, we want to think how it would look like to approach the design
and governance of digital technologies in connection to the terrestrial
(as in STS) and/or the territory and body-territory (as in decolonial
and feminist decolonial thinking).
The ESOCITE/4S conference
<https://www.4sonline.org/meeting/call-for-submissions/> will take place
in Cholula (Mexico) in December 2022. If you are interested, please
submit your contribution through the conference's system (check
'presenting a paper
<https://www.4sonline.org/meeting/call-for-submissions/>' guidelines)
and select the ‘144. Towards a Terrestrial Internet: Rethinking Digital
Networks From the Ground Up’ open panel. Deadline is on 14 April 2022.
We are open to empirical and theoretical contributions and to approaches
from all disciplines (including Media and Communications) looking at the
North or the South. You can submit in English, Spanish and Portuguese.
This panel goes in the same line as a special volume
<https://tapuya.la/2020/09/03/cfp-the-politics-of-data-in-latin-america-towards-a-terrestrial-internet/>
that is currently in preparation at the Tapuya: Latin American Science,
Technology and Society journal.
