[Commlist] SAS 2022 Conference

Fri Nov 05 15:46:17 GMT 2021

Chris Pallant is delighted to announce that the 2022 Society for Animation Studies (SAS) Annual Conference will be held at Teesside University, UK, 26 June – 3 July 2022. The conference theme, 'Animation Unlocked', will celebrate all aspects of the animated! The pandemic has required us stop and consider, as well as innovate and isolate, as we start to reanimate our everyday lives and Teesside University hopes to gather together animation scholars and practitioners from around the world in celebration of all things animated.

Teesside University is home to the long running Animex International Festival of Animation, VFX and Games and this year’s SAS conference delegates will be able to enjoy Animex Fringe events as part of the SAS program as well as a special discount for the main Animex Festival.

Under the theme 'Animation Unlocked' we invite proposals that look outside the traditional boundaries of animation. Through the theme we seek to metaphorically unlock the form, to explore all things animated from the ontological and philosophical aspects of animation to the innovative practices that work to expand and develop animation approaches. As well as proposals that explore working across boundaries, genres, forms and boarders. Expanded practices of animation as well as the emerging roles of machine learning and AI in animation.

For more information on the Call for Proposals, prices, registration, etc. please visit the conference website:https://www.tees.ac.uk/minisites/sas/index.cfm

Sent on behalf of the conference Chair, Katherine O'Connor and Co-Chair, Paul Noble.
