Anthropological film Festival of the IUAES 2022 Congress, 25-31 May
2022, Saint Petersburg, Russia
The Anthropological Film Festival is an integral part of the IUAES 2022
Congress in Saint Petersburg, Russia (25-31 May 2022). It seeks to
present and discuss contemporary approaches to anthropological
film-making, including community, collaborative, observational,
narrative, ethno-fictional, experimental, and other methods. We welcome
films of different genres created by anthropologists and documentalists
or indigenous communities and organizations. The festival will provide
an opportunity for filmmakers and researchers to engage in dialogue
about the power of cinematic language to express the complexity and
diversity of cultural values worldwide.

PROCEDURES AND DATES
● Films should be submitted to AFF via the Congress website at

● The deadline for submission is December 15, 2021.
● The festival's Selection Committee will announce the selection process
results and publish the list of films chosen for competition on the
Congress website on February 10, 2022.
● The festival will be held online and offline from May 25 to May 31,
2022, in St. Petersburg, Russia.
● Applicants selected for the competition, must pay a registration fee
via the payment form at the Congress website. The registration fee for
online participation is 3000 rubles, and the registration fee for onsite
participation is 10 000 rubles. IUAES membership fee is waived for the
participants of the AFF.
RULES
The following rules govern all submissions to Anthropological Film
Festival (AFF)
● The film's length must not exceed 52 minutes.
● English subtitles are required if the film's original language is not
English.
● By submitting films to AFF, participants agree that the films will be
screened online at a closed screening for the IUAES members.
● Participants allow the use of film materials, such as excerpts up to 3
minutes, scenes, posters, and trailers for promotional purposes of the
festival both in print and on the Internet.
● Applicants are solely responsible for obtaining all necessary rights
and permissions for third-party materials included in their films. AFF
disclaims any responsibility for any violations of intellectual property
rights.
