Established in 2000, the Department (http://www.LN.edu.hk/cultural/) offers a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Cultural Studies with a strong interdisciplinary orientation. It admits postgraduate research students leading to the award of MPhil and PhD degrees. Since 2003, it has been offering a self-financed taught programme leading to the Master degree of Cultural Studies. The department's faculty also contribute to the work of the newly established Centre for Cultural Research and Development (https://culturalresearch.center/).
General Requirements
Candidates should have a PhD degree in Cultural Studies or in related fields and preferably a few years of working experience at a tertiary institution, with relevant teaching experience and a good research grants record. The appointee will be required to conduct teaching, research, and take up service duties. The appointee must have a strong background in Cultural Studies and proven teaching and research ability in three or more of the following areas: performance and cultural practice, mobility, creative industry, cultural policy, and cultures of everyday life, etc. Lingnan University is fully committed to the pursuit of excellence in both teaching and research. The appointee will be a committed academic with a record of research and scholarship of international stature, and will be able to demonstrate commitment to the vision and orientation of the Department and the University. The appointee should demonstrate a track record of quality publications and grants-based research in areas relevant to the Department's profile is required.
Appointment
The conditions of appointment will be competitive. Remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits include annual leave, medical and dental benefits, mandatory provident fund, gratuity and incoming passage and baggage allowance for the eligible appointee. Appointment will normally be made on an initial contract of three years, which, subject to review and mutual agreement, may normally lead to longer-term appointment with consideration for substantiation.
