https://falmouthuniversityweb.eploy.net/vacancies/228/lecturer-film--television.html We’re seeking a Lecturer (Film & Television) who is a passionate educator with an enthusiasm for student-centred learning, with an in depth knowledge of film history and philosophy, and experimental film practices This role is situated within Falmouth University’s School of Film & Television, a CILECT accredited facility, working within the ScreenSkills accredited BA Film, BA Television and MA Film & Television courses. Our community of committed scholars and professionals ensure the constantly evolving courses are informed by the latest academic scholarship and the demands of a vibrant industry environment. Our research and professional practice is framed by the Sound/Image Cinema Lab, a multifaceted partner, funder, resource and research centre dedicated to the production and education of independent cinema - https://www.falmouth.ac.uk/research/programmes/pedagogy-futures/cinema-lab#project-team – releasing the feature films Wilderness and The Tape in 2021, and recently completing Enys Men, the latest feature from writer/director Mark Jenkin.

About You

Teaching primarily on our undergraduate course in BA Film, and contributing to our postgraduate taught course MA Film & Television, you will possess an undergraduate degree in a relevant subject area. You will primarily be working with large and diverse cohorts, as Module Leader for an optional third year contextual module, contributing to first and second year modules in film history and representation, and assisting in the pastoral care of first year undergraduates, as well as supervising dissertation and major practice projects on our BA and MA courses and potentially an experimental film pathway. You’ll be a passionate educator with a record of assisting undergraduate and postgraduate students in finding their voice and realizing their ambitions. An interest in developing the School’s links with industry is desirable, as is the recent or imminent completion of a PhD. We are looking to hear from candidates who have the following skills/experience: Experience of the supervision of dissertation and practice projects at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

Research and teaching interests centred in the broad field of representation and privilege (marginalization, intersectionality, and activism around gender, race, class or sexuality), global (particularly non-western) cinema, cinema of the other, film history and/or philosophy.

Experience of module leadership
Experience of (and/or demonstrable scholarly interest in) experimental filmmaking would be a distinct advantage.
