As part of the event, the 10th International Mobile Innovation Screening
& Smartphone Film Festival will be presented, including the new category
of #EcoSmartphoneFilms co-curated by Dr Gerda Cammaer (Associate
Professor at Ryerson University and co-founder & director of the Moving
Image Arts international short film festival) and Max Schleser (founder
& festival Director MINA & Researcher in the Centre for Transformative
Media Technologies, Swinburne University of Technology). After the
screening, Dr Karoly Bardosh (Associate Professor NYU Tisch, New York
University) will present a keynote on Smartphone Filmmaking and
21st-century Storytelling.
To understand sustainability, we need to broaden the discussion and
include multiple voices in this conversation. We are interested in
exploring Imaginary Futures - Ecological Utopia and Dystopia, the
Anthropocene as a global discourse with local impact and the development
of ecological literacies. As there is No plan B, we need to create one.
Mobile Storytelling embraces the potential for opening screen
storytelling to new forms and formats, as well as innovative ways to
collaborate and co-create. In an inclusive, dynamic and provocative
environment, our event will be focusing on exploring screen storytelling
and its implications and contributions to an innovative and more
equitable planet.
The virtual conference will feature:
- Paper presentations on XR documentary, mobile image making, mobile
storytelling, smartphone filmmaking, media literacy and decolonial practice.
Please see draft schedule for details via link https://bit.ly/MSCMINAX
- Showcases of the sustainability game Avant Garden (Paulo Hartman) and
smartphone stories & mobile-mentaries (Miranda Wilson, Dan Schultheis
and Zeynep Merve Uygun).

Polyphonic documentary storytelling & sustainability
with Dr Judith Aston (Associate Professor Interactive & Immersive Media
at UWE Bristol) and Dr Stefano Odorico (Reader in Contemporary Screen
Media at Leeds Trinity University)
and

with Petra Molthan-Hill (Professor of Sustainable Management and
Education for Sustainable Development, Co-Chair of the UN PRME Working
Group on Climate Change and Environment, Nottingham Trent University),
Riccardo Wagner (Professor of Corporate Communication and Marketing,
Head of Media School, Fresenius University of Applied Science), Dr
