Are you a teacher in film and media practice with experience in 
film/digital video production and technical skills? Do you have a strong 
understanding of the contemporary film and media industry and a general 
knowledge of contemporary historical, critical and/or theoretical issues 
in film and media studies?

The School of Arts is seeking to appoint two Lecturers in Film & Media 
Practice to teach existing practice modules and contribute to the 
undergraduate and postgraduate Film and Media Studies curricula. The 
role will see you convening and/or teaching on modules such as 
Introduction to Filmmaking, Making Media, Film Editing, Digital 
Storytelling, Documentary Filmmaking, Genre Filmmaking, and Microbudget 
Filmmaking.

We are looking for organised and inspiring teachers with professional 
experience of digital video/film production as an industry film 
professional, independent filmmaker or media content creator as well as 
experience of teaching in a higher education context.

As Lecturer in Film & Media Practice you will:

    proactively contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching 
and supervision, including convening, designing and examining modules
    provide technical teaching and assistance to students across the 
undergraduate practice modules and at postgraduate level
    inspire and foster students’ creativity and personal development
    play an active role in all aspects of programme development and 
management and undertake administrative roles in the School

To be successful in this role you will have:

    a first degree or equivalent in a relevant subject area
    experience of teaching film and/or media production at higher 
education level
    broad subject knowledge and an ability to communicate this 
effectively to students, and sufficient subject knowledge to teach 
outside your own specialisms
    excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication skills

The School of Arts offers teaching programmes in the areas of Drama & 
Theatre, Film, History of Art and Media Studies. It is home to over 700 
students and 37 academic staff supported by administrative and technical 
staff within the Division of Arts & Humanities. The School is housed in 
the award-winning Jarman building, which provides a striking working 
environment and excellent facilities for staff and students including a 
144sqm white cube gallery, film production facilities, a media hub and 
fully-equipped drama studios.
