[Commlist] Purdue University Fort Wayne Graduate Teaching Assistantships in Communication Available

Sun Apr 14 14:57:43 GMT 2019

The Communication Department invites applications for Graduate Teaching Assistantships in the Communication Department at Purdue University Fort Wayne in Fort Wayne IN. Assistantships begin Fall 2019. A completed bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA of 3.0, and acceptance to and enrollment in the MA program in Professional Communication, is required.

Responsibilities are two-fold:

1.  Teach two sections of the basic communication course (COM 11400). This position is unique in that Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTAs) develop syllabi, lesson plans, and facilitate daily course meetings as the instructor of record. This is done under the guidance of the Basic Course Director and graduate mentors, but affords GTAs an opportunity to experience the university teaching environment from a position of responsibility. GTAs will receive initial training during the summer and be enrolled in a graduate level pedagogy course during their first semester. In addition, GTAs will participate in collaborative meetings focused on teaching development.

2.  Maintain full-time (two graduate courses per semester) enrollment in the graduate program.

Graduate Teaching Assistantships offer a stipend and tuition reduction. To be considered, you must apply to the degree program and have a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher. Review of completed applications for the GTA position will begin once we have received all application materials for the degree program and will continue until positions are filled. Purdue University, Fort Wayne is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer.
