*PhD Scholarship at Universitat Jaume I de Castello (Spain) – Political Communication*

*General Information*

The objectives of this full time PhD Scholarship (predoctoral contract) are:

1.To carry out a doctoral thesis in the field of Political Communication (related to the theme of the project and the research lines of the research group).

2.Collaborate with the research project "Influencers in political communication in Spain. Analysis of the relationships among 2.0 opinion leaders, media, parties, institutions and audiences in the digital environment (CSO2017-88620-P)”, funded by the Spanish Government.

3.Fulfil the tasks of research assistant

The duration of the grant will be three years. The start date of the contracts will be determined in the grant resolution (approximately: September, 2019 to September, 2022). In addition to the expiration of the established term, the grant ends at the time that the reading and defense of the doctoral thesis proceeds. The periods in which other grants with the same purpose have been enjoyed will be discounted of the maximum duration of the contract.

The gross salary of the contract will be 16,800 euros per year. In addition, the grant includes an additional endowment of 1,600 euros, for travel and establishment expenses in Castellón of the person hired, under the responsibility of the research organization to which it is assigned.

*General Requirements of the Application*

1.To have a university degree from a non-Spanish institution, in the scientific field corresponding to the research project which the contract will be linked, and have completed those studies after January 1, 2015.

2.To possess the academic requirements necessary for the admission to a doctoral program at the time of the selection, and to be admitted to a doctoral program at the time of their recruitment. These requirements are to have a degree and a master or equivalent, and to fulfil with both a minimum of 300 credits ECTS.

3.Not be in possession of a PhD.

4.Not having enjoyed a scholarship or contract of the Santiago Grisolía Program.

*Specific Requirements of the Grant*

1.Studies in Communication, Journalism or Political Communication or in a closer field, such as Political Science or Sociology. **

2.Knowledge of social media analysis and digital methods.

3.Knowledge of statistics.

4.Fluently writing and speaking skills in English. Spanish-speaking skills are desirable, although it is not a mandatory requirement.

5.Aptitudes to work in group.

*Functions of the Employed Person*

1.To carry out a doctoral thesis in the field of Political Communication (related to the theme of the project and the research lines of the research group).

2.Collaborate with the research project "Influencers in political communication in Spain. Analysis of the relationships among opinion 2.0 leaders, media, parties, institutions and audiences in the digital environment (CSO2017-88620-P), funded by the Spanish Goverment.

*Evaluation criteria of candidates in the selective process*

1.Training related to the project and the profile of the post.

1.1 Academic record of the degree: up to 10 points.

             1.2. Postgraduate academic record: up to 10 points.

2.Experience in professional or R&D activities related to the project and the profile of the post (experience in related jobs, publications, communications presented at conferences, participation in research projects and/or contracts with administration or companies, research stays in other research centres): up to 50 points.

3.Other merits (knowledge of English, Valencian, computing, etc.): up to 10 points.

4.Optional interview, designed to assess the knowledge of the candidate in relation to the tasks which need to be developed in the project: up to 20 points. NOTE: This section will not exceed 20% of the total score.

It may be possible to apply correction coefficients that measure the adequacy of the alleged merits to the profile of the post.

*Beginning of the application submission process*

Universitat Jaume I of Castelló will shortly open the process of submitting applications that can be done through the digital platform in a virtual way. In the following weeks, the deadline for submitting applications will be indicated.

In addition to the application, applicants must submit the following documents:

1.Photocopy of the passport or equivalent identity card in the case of nationals from other European Union Member States.

2.Photocopy of the academic certificates (degree and master) or a photocopy that shows the deposit for the issuance of these certificates.

3.Photocopy of the official academic certificates showing the degree (degree and master) and the grades obtained.

4.Curriculum and documents that justify the merits indicated (free format)

5.Documents that certify the knowledge of Spanish or English

The documentation provided must be correctly legalized (Apostille of the Hague or similar) and originally draw up in Spanish or English or translated by a Sworn Translator in one of these two languages.
