Special issue of GAME on digital entertainment and special needs is out
A new special issue of GAME has been released with a focus on Digital
Entertainment and Special Needs. Edited by Enrico Gandolfi, Kaybeth
Calabria, and Richard E. Ferdig, it includes 5 peer-reviewed articles
that address different aspects of the relationship between video games
and special needs (e.g., spanning universal interfaces, empathy through
games, ludic mechanics for visually impaired players, and haptic media
as inclusion drivers). Implications for design and development are
included along with best practices for using video games to address biases.
