Mon Jun 04 19:30:24 GMT 2018
*Deadline approaching - 11 June 2018 !!*
*(Francophone) Research Assistant – Dept of Journalism Studies,
University of Sheffield*
We are looking to recruit a full-time Research Associate (for 4 months
starting on 20th August 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter) to work
with us on an impact assessment project entitled Studio Kalangou: the
impact of radio in Niger on women’s rights and empowerment.
Since 2016, Studio Kalangou, a news-providing radio initiative run by
Fondation Hirondelle, a Swiss-based INGO registered in Niger, has been
producing and broadcasting a daily two-hour news and information
programme in Niger in five languages (French, Hausa, Zama, Tamashek, and
Peulh). Its aim is to provide independent information to all sectors of
society, raise awareness and contribute to the development of one of the

women-themed programmes in May 2018 on a series of topics to raise
awareness of women’s rights and empowerment.
Working in collaboration with Fondation Hirondelle in Lausanne and
Studio Kalangou in Niger, you will be based in the Department of
Journalism Studies in the University of Sheffield. You will be involved
in the quantitative and qualitative analysis of data, radio programmes
and radio generally in Niger.
Fluent French is essential.
Key areas of investigation will be radio, women, politics, and Niger.
Experience in these areas will be beneficial. You will have a good
honours degree and be near completion of a research-led Masters or
working on or hold a PhD in a relevant area.
The deadline is 11^th June 2018.
