[ecrea] CFP – 1st Quirino International Congress of Ibero-American animation

Mon Dec 18 09:01:52 GMT 2017

We are excited to announce that the 1st Quirino International Congress
of Ibero-American animation is now open for submissions.

The Quirino annual international congress aims to create a space for debate and reflection about the evolution of the new animation technologies in all kinds of media and platforms, and their relation to the world of Education, Art and Communication in the context of Ibero-American animation industries. The Quirino congress will be a meeting point for promotion and exhibition, at the service of lecturers and creators using animation techniques as artistic, educational or communicational support.

The congress will be held along with an Ibero-American co-production
forum and the ceremony of the Quirino Awards. The awards will recognize
the talent of the Ibero-American animation industry and generate links
and networks between both sides of the Atlantic ocean. The awards are
named in tribute of the creator of the first feature length animation
film in history, the Italian-Argentinean Quirino Cristiani, who in 1917
directed 'El Apostol'. This Argentine production, shot in 35mm, used
58,000 drawings done by hand along with a number of models representing
public buildings and streets in Buenos Aires city.

We are encouraging submissions dealing with subjects dealing with
animation produced in the Ibero-American speaking countries. Potential
submission may include, but are not limited to, the following:

- Traditional vs. digital animation
- Impact and use of the new technologies (AR, VR, 360 videos) in animation
- Animation produced for commercial purposes
- Transmedia narrative and multi-platform animated contents
- Educational animation
- Disability and social inclusion in animation
- Artistic and experimental experiences with animation
- Social activism with animation
- Animation in video games
- Social networks
- Documentary formats
- Literature and animation
- New perspectives on animation

The call for papers is open for communications in Portuguese and Spanish
from all over Ibero-American countries. Submissions of abstracts are
