[ecrea] new volumes published in the Palgrave/IAMCR series
Tue Dec 05 19:19:44 GMT 2017
two new inspiring edited volumes have just come out in the
Palgrave/IAMCR series *Global Transformations in Media and Communication
Research*.
Sergio Sparviero, Corinna Peil and Gabriele Balbi are editors of /Media
Convergence and Deconvergence./ Media convergence is commonly considered
to be an overarching process and one of the major implications of the
digitisation of communication signals – a key issue in the world of
digital media. This book, however, critically analyses 'convergence'
and draws attention to the inconsistencies in media convergence
discourses. The work explores the perspective of complementary
divergence and emphasises the interplay of converging and diverging
movements on selected fields of research.
Francisco Sierra's and Tomaso Gravante's publication focuses on
/Networks, Movements and Technopolitics in Latin America. /This
work explores the impact of digital culture on politics, political
participation and social movements, building on a theoretical framework
inspired by the critical tradition of participatory communication for
social change as it was developed in Latin America. The volume presents
compelling research about contemporary Latin American movements in
several countries; experiences that are creating other identities and
social spaces on the margins of the neoliberal system through the use of
digital technology.
