Dissertation prize „Media – Culture – Communication“
Deadline approaches on December 31, 2017
The aim of the prize is to honor an outstanding doctoral thesis in the
topical field of the book series „Media – Culture – Communication“ (in
German language). The prize is offered by the section „Sociology of
Media Communication“ of the German Communication Association together
the the publishing house Springer VS.
The focus of the book series „Medien – Kultur – Kommunikation“ is an
interdisciplinary examination with the field of media, culture, and
communication. Whether we think of our own culture or of a foreign
culture, we know that they are thoroughly permeated by processes of
media communication. To what changes are cultures being exposed to? What
is the relationship between the various media of film, TV, the Internet
or mobile communication and the different cultural forms? How does
everyday life changes in the face on an increasingly globalised media
communication? What skills are necessary in order to function in a
society that is seeped in media? Questions on medial, cultural and
communicative change and the challenges that arise there from them are
the focus of the series Media – Culture – Communication. As this
field of research transgresses the borders of different disciplines of
social sciences and cultural studies like media and communication
studies, sociology, political science or literature, the series has an
interdisciplinary orientation. Its different volumes strive to
understand the complex interdependency between media, culture, and
communication in a broad perspective. In doing so, the series makes both
the current research and theorectical reflections accessible to the reader.
