[ecrea] CFP – Visuality 2017: Tourism vs. Urban Heritage in a Creative City, April 20-21, 2017 in Vilnius

Tue Dec 13 13:40:24 GMT 2016

ECREA TWG Media & The City invites paper proposals for a special panel at the “Visuality 2017: Tourism vs Urban Heritage in a Creative City” conference, to be held in Vilnius, Lithuania, on April 20-21, 2017. The panel, tentatively titled "Smart tourism. Consuming and preserving urban heritage and culture in an age of ubiquitous mediation", seeks to bring together a range of perspectives and approaches to studying the intersection of tourism and cultural heritage in mediated urban environments. All aspects of urban media studies, be it smart cities, creative urban mediation, visual or multimedia urban culture and heritage, the economic or environmental implications of mediated urban tourism, or the (often fraught) relationship between tourists and urban heritage, are welcome. Interdisciplinary research seeking to creatively merge media theory and urban studies approaches is particularly appropriate.

Please send abstracts of up to 500 words accompanied by a short bio of each author to mediacity.twg[@]gmail.com by 31st January 2017.

Acceptance will be notified by 15th February 2017.

Please, feel free to circulate the Call in your networks.
