Applications are invited for this fixed term, full-time post based in
the Department of Culture, Film and Media (CFM). CFM is one of the
largest departments of its kind in the UK. We offer undergraduate and
postgraduate degrees, and combine teaching and research excellence in
film and television studies, media and communication studies, cultural
studies and critical theory.
The role holder¹s responsibilities will involve: leadership of the MSc
in Cultural Industries and Entrepreneurship; convening, teaching and
assessment on BA and MA modules; BA and MA dissertation supervision and
PGR supervision. The role holder will also be responsible for
administration relating to individual and team-taught modules, pastoral
care of students (personal tutor) and attending committees, working
groups and relevant Department or School meetings. Responsibilities will
also include carrying out individual research leading to high-quality
published work, individual and collaborative research activities with
potential for external funding, and regular dissemination of research in
the UK and internationally.
Candidates must have completed a PhD (or equivalent) in cultural
studies, creative industries, media studies or a related field. They
should also have knowledge of creative industries and cultural policy
and have established research interests in one of more of the areas of
creative industries, cultural policy, media industries. A track record
of research dissemination (research papers, publications) appropriate to
stage of career is also essential, as is evidence of measurable
research impact. The successful candidate will also have a strong record
of publication in peer-reviewed journals and other peer reviewed
contexts that will contribute to Research Excellence Framework
submission.
This post is available from 1 September 2016 and will be offered on a
fixed term basis until 31 August 2019 to cover a career break.
