*Cleaning the House: Testing critical concepts on communication and society*
ECREA 2016 pre-conference, Prague, November 8-9, 2016

The aim of this pre-conference is to critically scrutinize contemporary 
key concepts and paradigms in communication research.
We invite papers that aim to identify such concepts and their status, 
assess their usefulness to theoretical development and empirical work, 
and/or critique the theoretical/normative assumptions they carry.

Contributions are particularly welcomed around the three thematic 
sessions of the pre-conference:
(1) Mediatization: Are we mediatized?
(2) Inequality: Are media a cause or a solution to social inequality?
(3) Normativity and activism: What role for communication academics in 
society?

The themes are further explained in the Call for Papers

*Please send your abstract of 250 to 500 words by 30 June 2016 using the 
form on the CfP page.*

We welcome paper proposals that approach the above-mentioned, or closely 
related, themes from a variety of perspectives.

The confirmed keynote speakers include:
- Gianpetro Mazzoleni (University of Milan),
- Graham Murdoch (Loughborough University),
- Robin Mansell (London School of Economics and Political Science),
- Des Freedman (Goldsmiths, University of London),
- Péter Bajomi-Lázár (Budapest Business School), and
- John Downey (Loughborough University).
