The Faculty of Social Sciences at Lund University is one of the leading education and research institutions in Sweden and operates both in Lund and Helsingborg. The Faculty of Social Sciences is one of the leading research and teaching environments for social and behavioural sciences in the country. Our researchers make the function and dynamics of society understandable, thereby creating opportunities to change society and, at best, preventing social problems. Our research generates knowledge and solutions that contribute to effective social organisation, economic competitiveness, and socially sustainable development. We are looking for four postdoc researchers with excellent research skills and a strong wish to contribute to our research environment.

Duties
The position involves individual research (80%) and teaching at all levels (20%).

Qualifications and assessment
To be appointed as a postdoc requires a PhD in any of the following research subjects offered at the Faculty of Social Sciences: Communication and Media Studies, Education, Gender Studies, Human Ecology, Human or Economic Geography, Political Science, Psychology, Service Studies, Social Anthropology, Social Work, Sociology, Sociology of Law. The PhD is to have been obtained within the past three (3) years at the time of the application deadline (exceptions can be made only under special circumstances). The PhD requirement must be fulfilled at the time of application.

The basis for assessment is the ability to develop and conduct high quality research, as well as teaching skills.

Research expertise is primarily considered. The applicants must be able to demonstrate documented research expertise through the quality of their doctoral thesis and other publications. The applicants are to conduct research that clearly relates to the research at any of the faculty’s departments or divisions.

A research plan (maximum 4 pages) is to be attached to the application, showing what research the applicant intends to pursue, and how it relates to the research at the department.

The applications are assessed with regard to the following criteria: the relevance and strength of the research plan, and its links to the department’s research; the quality of the research output, and its links to the department’s research; other qualifications proving the applicant’s research skills; teaching expertise within the faculty’s research subjects.

Application
The application must include the following:
1. An explicit statement of where the applicant wishes to be employed (Gender Studies, Communication and Media, Human and Economic Geography, Psychology, Sociology of Law, Service Management and Service Studies, School of Social Work, Sociology, Political Science, Strategic Communication) 2. Research plan that clearly shows how the research relates to ongoing research at the department, maximum 4 pages.
3. CV and copies of degree certificate
4. List of publications
5. Up to three (3) representative publications
6. Contact information for three (3) references

Applications that do not include all the items above will not be considered.

Terms
A postdoc fellowship is a career development position specialising in research, and is to be an initial step in the applicant’s career.

Please note that a person who has previously been employed as a postdoc at Lund University for more than a year cannot be employed as a postdoc again within the same or similar subject at the University.

The University applies individually set salaries. Please state the salary requested in your application.
