[ecrea] Rhythm as Pattern and Variation Conference

Tue Apr 19 08:04:28 GMT 2016

RHYTHM AS PATTERN AND VARIATION: Political, Social and Artistic Inflections
 One-Day Conference
Goldsmiths (Professor Stuart Hall Building, Rooms LG01 and LG02)
Saturday 23 April 2016, from 9.30am to 6pm
Keynote Speakers: Pascal Michon and Paul Hegarty
Confirmed Speakers: Julian Henriques, Eleni Ikoniadou, Dee Reynolds, Beverly Skeggs, Simon Yuill, Sha Xin Wei & others. A recent renewed interest in rhythm highlights the relevance and urgency of a reconsideration of it in relation to our methodologies and practices in the humanities and social sciences. In an effort to think of the different ways in which rhythm can be said to be an originator and organisational principle of reality, and in an attempt to take seriously rhythm’s potential in terms of methodology, this one-day conference brings together a variety of approaches from different disciplines.
