Founded in 2000, and based in The School of Literature, Art and Media, 
The Department of Media and Communications (MECO)is a leading centre for 
teaching, research, and public engagement in many areas, including 
transformations in communication and media, journalism studies, digital 
cultures and technologies, culture and media, communication and media 
policy, public, corporate and political communication, health 
communication, media history, screen studies, and media and politics.

MECO has established itself as an outstanding, collegial environment for 
innovative research with interdisciplinary links with a broad range of 
researchers. We make internationally significant contributions to 
understandings of media, communication, and digital cultures, which are 
now central to our social, economic, political, and cultural 
arrangements. We also have a strong track record of research 
collaborations and external grant success, in addition to excellent 
media production facilities, including television and radio studios, and 
support from a Digital Media Unit.

*In this exciting lectureship opportunity you will:*

·teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in radio, video and 
cross-media production, and in digital cultures

·provide leadership in curriculum development, including online and 
blended coursework delivery

·contribute to the research strengths of the school, including 
publishing regularly in journals of high ranking and other quality 
outlets, and apply for research grants

·supervise higher degree research students as well as honours and 
masters dissertation students

·develop effective interdisciplinary collaborations within the 
University, across the academic field and with external stakeholders

·engage with the media production industry, professions and interested 
publics

·contribute to academic administration.

*To be the successful candidate you will need:*

·a PhD with a focus on digital media production or digital media and 
cultural theory

·proven professional expertise in broadcast and/or cross-media production

·tertiary-level teaching experience in cross-media production skills and 
digital cultures across a range of media platforms including radio, 
video and online

·a demonstrated research track record, relative to opportunity, in an 
area of cross-media production and digital cultures, as shown by high 
quality publications and/or research activities

·a demonstrated capacity for engagement in industry debates on digital 
media and digital cultures

·the ability to undertake academic administrative responsibilities

·the ability to work in a collegial and effective manner with a broad 
range of colleagues, students and external stakeholders from diverse 
cultural and professional backgrounds.

You will join a vibrant and collegial department accommodated in 
recently refurbished office space with excellent teaching and research 
resources. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with world 
leaders in the field in various centres such as the Sydney Democracy 
Network, Charles Perkins Centre, the Centre for International Security 
Studies, the South-East Asia Centre and the China Studies Centre, along 
with faculty based researchers across a range of disciplines including 
the Department of Government and International Relations.
