[ecrea] International Symposium - Think Tanks as Agenda Setters

Very welcome to the symposium! Don’t hesitate to distribute this
information to interested, including master- and doctoral students!

On June 2 and 3 the Department of Media Studies (IMS) will hold the
International Symposium *Think Tanks as Agenda Setters*, arranged by a
research group that focuses on the role of think tanks in the Nordic
countries. Participation in the Symposium is free, and everyone is

On Thursday, June 2, three Guest Researchers will refer to think tanks
from an international and comparative perspective, with emphasis on
“advocacy think tanks”: *Professor Marie-Laure Djelic* (ESSEC Business
School, Paris), *Dr. Dieter Plehwe* (WZB - Social Science Center Berlin)
and *Assisociate Professor Adrienne Sörbom* (Score, Stockholm
University). A panel including *Daniel Suhonen* (Katalys, Sweden),
*Magnus Marsdal* (Manifest, Norway) and *Christian Christensen*
(Professor, at IMS) will in turn discuss the ideas presented by the
Guest Researchers. On Friday, June 3, the symposium will focus more
directly on the role of Nordic think tanks in public debate: aNordic
research group *Mark Blach-Ørsten *(RUC), *Paul Bjerke *(HiV), *Lotta
Lounasmeri *(Helsinki) och *Sigurd Allern* (UiO/SU) will present its
newly published study of the visibility of think tanks in Denmark,
Finland, Norway and Sweden  and their role in relation to the press.  A
panel including *Karin Svanborg Sjövall* (Timbro) and representatives
from various Nordic think tanks will comment on the study’s findings and
discuss the growing importance of think tanks as agenda setters.


The International Symposium is part of the Global Media Café series of
