[ecrea] Fully-funded year long visiting research fellowship in Oxford

The Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism at the University of
Oxford is seeking applications from leading researchers who would like
to spend an academic year with our research team as a Google Digital
News Senior Visiting Research Fellow.

This fellowship will provide a stipend as well as research support for a
full academic year starting in October 2016 and is aimed at a
high-profile and high-impact researcher, resident in one of the
continental European countries which will be covered in the 2016 Reuters
Institute Digital News Report <http://www.digitalnewsreport.org/>
namely; Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark,  Finland, France,
Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Ireland, Netherlands, Norway, Poland,
Portugal, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.

The fellowship will appeal to a researcher who is excited by this
opportunity to be part of a large, international, and collaborative team
working on how digital media and journalism are changing across Europe
and who is keen to help us advance both academic and
industry/professional discussions.

We are seeking to appoint an individual who brings their own perspective
and expertise to our team, who has a clear set of research objectives
focused on digital news and aligned with institute’s mission of
connecting rigorous academic research with the issues confronting
journalism around the world today, and who will work with us to produce
relevant outputs during the stay in Oxford.

The Google Digital News Senior Visiting Research Fellowship is open to
qualified applicants from the social sciences (including journalism
studies, media/communication research, sociology or political science)
as well as from computer science, e-research and information science.

Applications will be assessed on the basis of three main criteria:

  * The quality of the professional achievements and academic impact of
    the researcher given the stage in their career
  * Their potential and interest in being part of an international
    research team and of contributing to and making best use of the
    opportunity presented by the fellowship
  * The quality of their detailed research proposal and their proposed
    ideas on what relevant outputs will be produced during their stay in
    Oxford of relevance to both academics and industry professionals
    eager to understand digital media, news, and journalism today.

The application should include (1) a CV with a list of publications of
no more than 4 pages A4 in total (2) a research proposal with clear
research questions as well as a research approach and planned output of
no more than 4 pages A4, and (3) a letter of application of no more than
2 pages A4 explaining how the candidate and the proposed project is
aligned with our work.

*The deadline for applications is midday on Friday 29th January 2016.*

The successful candidate will be notified by 15th February 2016.
