*The Faculty of Social Sciences is seeking to fill two full-time
vacancies in the Department of Communication Studies  for doctoral
students. *

*The Visual and Digital Cultures Research Center (ViDi) hires the two
doctoral students as part of the Chair Vandenbunder Baillet Latour for
Film Studies and Visual Culture. *

*They will work in the field of:  1. visual social science*

*2. film and media studies. *

*Job description*

**

  * You prepare a doctoral thesis in the field of:     1. visual social
    science

2. film and media studies.

  * You contribute to research in ViDi.

*Profile and requirements*

  * You hold a master degree  in film studies and visual culture,
    communication studies, sociology, anthropology, or another relevant
    field within social sciences or humanities;
  * You have outstanding academic grades;
  * Students in the final year of their degree can also apply;
  * Your research interests are in line with the research of ViDi. Check

  * You are fluent  in English and possess advanced writing skills;
  * Your academic qualities comply with the requirements stipulated in

  * The student applying for film and media studies: experience with/
    interest for new cinema history and audience research is
    recommendable, advanced knowledge of Spanish is a plus.

  * A doctoral scholarship for a period of one year, with the
    possibility of annual renewal for a further three years after
    positive evaluation;

  * The start date of the scholarship will be May 2016 (at the earliest);

  * A pre-selection will be made amongst the submitted applications. The
    interviews of the candidates, preselected by the selection panel,
    will take place in the second half of January 2016.
