The School of Media, Film and Music <http://www.sussex.ac.uk/mfm/> (MFM)
at the University of Sussex is pleased to invite applications to study
for a PhD.

We offer expert supervision in the following areas:

Creative and Critical Practice

(including Journalism), and Music
<http://www.sussex.ac.uk/study/pg/2014/research/1666>

Applicants who receive an offer of a place will be eligible to apply for
either an MFM International Research Scholarship
<http://www.sussex.ac.uk/study/money/scholarships/pgr2016/view/566> (for
overseas students) or an AHRC award (for Home and EU students) through
our membership of the CHASE <http://www.chase.ac.uk/> consortium.

you have secured a place you will be invited to apply for a studentship
on a competitive basis, and you will be guided through the rest of the
application process from that point on:

  * For a CHASE scholarship, your Sussex application must be completed
    by *13^th January 2016*
  * For the MFM International Research Scholarship, your Sussex
    application must be completed by*4^th April 2016*

*What does CHASE at Sussex have to offer? *If you are successful in
attracting a CHASE studentship, you will:**

·have your fees paid and receive a stipend to cover your living expenses
(subject to residential eligibility in the UK; EU residents will have
only their fees paid)

·be eligible to apply for further financial support for training and
research expenses, such as archival visits, conference trips, and
learning a language or other skill integral to your research project

·benefit from a vibrant research environment with lots of opportunity to
develop yourself as well as your research, through specialist research
seminars, reading groups, lectures by world class visiting speakers, the
Library’s Researcher Development Programme and CHASE student cohort

·have the opportunity to undertake a placement to gain professional
