Besides the Screen is an international research network active since 2010, involving participants from the UK, Mexico and Brazil. It means to investigate the continuing development of audiovisual practices from a materialistic perspective, deploying artistic and unorthodox methodologies in the context of cinema studies. Its ever-expanding constellation of topics revolves around techniques of projection, the centrality of marginal processes, and the manifold systems of movie storage and transmission.
