CALL FOR PAPERS

The conference will address the case of Marcello Mastroianni, focusing on his relevance as an actor and as a star. The papers will address the analysis of Mastroianni's acting style, his position within film, theatre and television history (genres, authors, production and reception practices) and the social and cultural influence of one of modernity's most relevant icons. A peculiar icon indeed, a star able to embody, at the very same time, a real symbol of Italian identity and a universal character.

The conference will take place in Turin and will be organized in three days (6-8 November 2014), structured in several panels, focused on specific topics.

Research perspectives include, but are not limited to:

    * Mastroianni and Italian cinema (between genres and auteurs);
    * Mastroianni the actor (technique, style, characters);
* Mastroianni the international star (production, reception and circulation of his myth);
    * Mastroianni and the theatre;
    * Mastroianni on television and in the mass media;
    * Mastroianni’s persona and gender identity;
    * Mastroianni as a fashion icon.

Possible updates to the call for papers will be announced shortly. Presentations must be 20 minutes long and proposals, complete with a short abstract, must be sent by June 30, 2014.

Submissions can be sent to Centro Ricerche Attore e Divismo: (centroricerche.crad /at/ unito.it)
