[ecrea] EBU hiring a visiting researcher

The Media Intelligence Service (MIS) at the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) is recruiting a Visiting Researcher (4 to 6 months in 2014).

JOB DESCRIPTION
Aiming to provide EBU Members with innovative and valuable knowledge that will support their daily operations and strategic planning, the Media Intelligence Service (MIS) has created a visiting researcher position. Each year, an experienced market professional or academic scholar (post-doc level) will be hosted by the MIS at the EBU permanent services in Geneva to carry out a future-oriented research project.

This year, the proposed project should be in the area of MEDIA CONSUMPTION, including but not limited to topics like:

Media repertoires/diets

On-demand / time-shifted consumption

Capturing young audiences

Conversion between screens

Consumption measurement in the digital and convergent media scenario

Media uses and gratifications



Besides implementing the project (75%), the visiting researcher will participate in the projects carried out by the MIS (25%).

Please, consider that this is a full time position (40 hours/week). Therefore, it is not compatible with other jobs or responsibilities.

Working language will be English.



SELECTION CRITERIA

The EBU MIS aims to host and work with the best. Therefore, only very innovative project proposals and competitive profiles will be considered. The selection criteria will be:

Project proposal: innovative, ambitious but feasible, future-oriented, relevant for PSM.

Personal profile: education, experience, motivation, communication skills.



PRACTICALITIES

The selected researcher will be paid to carry out the project and the other duties linked to this research position. In addition, the EBU will support the selected candidate on the search for accommodation and the obtaining of a Swiss medical insurance. A return flight to/from Geneva will be also included.

The Media Intelligence Service will make available the necessary means to develop the project.

The Media Intelligence Service (MIS) is the unit responsible for carrying out primary research and analysis in the field of media with a multidimensional approach (political, economic, socio-cultural and technological) and an international perspective. MIS' main mission is providing EBU departments and committees as well as EBU Members with reliable market data, trustworthy analysis and relevant arguments that support their daily operations and their strategic planning.
