Accessibility Event, Lancaster UK, 5th March, Limited places remaining
Full details can be found at: http://wp.me/P3DLux-3y
This is a FREE multi-disciplinary, interactive forum which aims to bring
together participants from public and private sectors, charities and
academia to debate upon and shape the future of website accessibility.
A particular concern is high-level initiatives to deliver public
services online in the light of the concern that technological equality
can only be achieved if policies are put in place to ensure all that
citizens are given the opportunity to participate and reap the benefits
of technological developments equally.
Issues covered will include:
•The digital divide and disability discrimination law
•Accessibility design, implementation and usability
•The public sector and accessibility
•The social model of disability and the impact of the United Nations
Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities
•The EU Accessibility Act and procurement
•Accessibility case studies
The day will include presentations by a number of invited speakers and a
number of participatory activities to highlight strategies for future
development. The event will be particularly useful for:
•Charities
•Policymakers focusing on public IT provision
•Website designers and project managers
•Academics working in the areas of technology, law and disability studies
