Academic journal of journalism and media studies “Journalism Research” is announcing Call for Papers for the special issue “Media and Freedom of Speech: Controversies and Social Clashes”. The volume is going to be published in February, 2014 (volume date 2013).

The core theme of this issue puts a strong emphasis on major structural, technological, professional and economic changes of mainstream media landscape due to the current economic crisis and austerity measures that were introduced during the period. By aiming to tackle all these questions the theme seeks to address political and social considerations of worldwide media development and change.

Articles submitted are expected to cover a broad spectrum of ideas related to ongoing changes and transformations as well as emerging challenges that contemporary journalism and media professionals, scholars, policy makers need to address in diverse political and cultural contexts.
