[ecrea] International media education seminar 14.-15.2.2013 in Tampere, Finland

The Finnish Society on Media Education would like to invite You to an international seminar My Media Playground 14.-15.2.2013 in Tampere, Finland. The topic of the seminar is 0-12-year old children's media use, media skills and best practices of media education.

During two days we will discuss the evaluation and spreading of best practices, children's participation and multiculturalism in media education as well as other current topics on children's media culture. The topic will be examined from different perspectives covering both the formal and non-formal field. The program will consist of keynote lectures, presentations and panel discussions.

The seminar is aimed at experts planning media education strategies, policies and materials for children up to 12 years old and other experts in the field.

Keynote lectures will be held by Professor of education, PhD Jackie Marsh, University of Sheffield and PhD Reijo Kupiainen, Adjunct Professor (Media Education), Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Professor (Theory of Visual Culture), Aalto University.

No participation fee. The participants have to pay their own travel and hotel expenses. Registration starts 15 October and ends 15 January 2013. Limited amount of places. Binding registration.

CALL FOR PAPERS - Panel discussions
Deadline 10 December 2012

Participants can choose to attend one of the three panel discussions below:
- Families and media education at homes
- Participation and multiculturalism
- New fields of media education

If you wish to present your own research or project in the panel discussions please submit a short abstract of not more than 200 words to (hanna.wahlman /at/ mediakasvatus.fi). Remember to mention which panel discussion you wish to attend.

Each panel will consist of 5 panelists and a moderator. During the panel each panelist has approx. 10 minutes to present a research or project. The presentation is followed by questions and discussion.

Deadline for submissions 10 December 2012.

After having submitted your paper, you can expect to hear from us by 17 December.
