[ecrea] Post Doctoral Position available at the University of St. Gallen

A Post-Doc Researcher Position in Knowledge Visualization and
Intercultural Communication (80%) is available at the University of
St. Gallen, =mcm institute for Media and Communications Management, as
of January 2013. The post-doctoral research position is part of Prof.
Martin J. Eppler's research group (www.knowledge-communication.org).
Candidates are expected to hold a Ph.D. degree, have a good
publications record and must be willing to conduct research on the
topic of interactive visual group communication.

The successful candidate will be integrated into a young, research
oriented team with strong foundation in knowledge visualization and
managerial communication. The group is located at the School of
Management of the University of St. Gallen. This 80% position is
funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation for the project
"Understanding the impact of interactive visual representations on
group communication.” Its duration is for two years.

Project:
Visual communication tools, such as diagramming or mapping software,
have become more widely used in group communication in organizations
in the last years, empowering interpersonal communication through new
means of interaction. The aim of this project is to test the effects
of interactive visualizations on group experience sharing, in
particular focusing on the role of restrictiveness of a visualization
template. In addition the study aims at assessing, through lab and
field experiments, the moderating effect of cultural diversity.

Candidate Profile:
Ph.D. degree in Management, Psychology, Computer or Communication
Science (in the latter cases, preferably with studies in Business)
Publications in peer-reviewed academic journals and major management
conferences;
Willingness to conduct research and publish journal articles on the topic;
Excellent written and oral fluency in English (and preferably German);
Solid skills in qualitative and quantitative research methodologies,
in particular with conducting and analyzing experiments.

Duties:
Collaboration in the research activities of the group in the area of
experience sharing with interactive visualization, in particular with
intercultural groups, under the scientific supervision of Prof. Martin
J. Eppler and Prof. Sabrina Bresciani at the University of St. Gallen.
Development of articles for top peer-reviewed academic journals.
