As part of the Bedfordshire Institute for Media, Arts and Performance,
the Division offers a range of highly successful undergraduate and
postgraduate courses with an emphasis on professional practice with a
theoretical underpinning. Through the Research Institute for Media, Art
and Design there is a thriving research culture with 50% graded
"internationally excellent" or above in the 2008 Research Assessment
Exercise. Many staff combine their academic and professional practice
with on-going links across a range of media industries.
The Division has an exciting opportunity for a new member of staff to
join a fast-growing division to work with the team and contributing to
teaching, research and enterprise. This post is an exceptional
opportunity to lead the division's portfolio of taught courses and
contribute new ideas to the future development of media education at the
University.
The successful candidate with have substantial higher education teaching
experience, course leadership experience, an established research
profile and professional experience in the media industries. A PhD is
expected together with a commitment to teaching theory and practice at
both undergraduate and postgraduate level. With our developing
professional doctorate programmes there are increasing opportunities to
supervise research projects. A willingness to undertake international
travel to support our partnership links is desirable.
